Most people watch reality television to take a break from their own realities. They are tried and true and have become essential viewing during times when the unions are at war with the Hollywood studios. Reality TV has cemented itself into modern human entertainment, providing laughter and intrigue and viewers with an unintentional look into human psychology. People have been assaulted, defamed, and faced various forms of discrimination, and due to the lack of oversight, their only option is legal action. Now, thanks to the recent WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, reality TV’s biggest stars are also calling for unionization, citing unsafe working conditions and hostile work environments. Employees both in front and behind the camera have faced issues that they felt were necessary to take legal action on. Bravo, for example, is currently dealing with a laundry list of lawsuits that seem to keep piling up, and Netflix is also being sued by former contestants on the incredibly popular series Love Is Blind.
