Iconic cars can be found everywhere, but sometimes the ones with legendary graphics packages tend to be underappreciated. Some of these liveries are so special that we almost embed them as a part of the car to the extent that we don’t appreciate them on their own. That’s our goal today as we ask, what’s the most famous factory graphics package ever?
Modern automakers put silly graphics packages on cars all of the time, and more often than not, they mean very little in terms of actual performance. As mentioned though, sometimes they become absolutely synonymous with the car itself. Our lead image, the Ford Mustang GT350 is just such a car. Those blue racing stripes might be simple by today’s standards but they represented a shift.
The GT350 was among the first road cars to prominently feature racing stripes. The practice quickly grew to the point that we imagine that some of you didn’t realize just how pioneering the GT350 was in terms of graphics packages. It’s gone beyond Ford and become commonplace on other brands and it remains a major part of Mustang offerings too.

Still, there are a great many other options to choose from. Audi’s famous simple Quattro graphics package, the Renault 8 Gordini, the Lotus Esprit JPS edition, the Pontiac Firebird with its screaming chicken, and the HEMI Cuda 440 Six Pack are just a few classic examples that jump out at us. Each of those is iconic to the point that enthusiasts can instantly picture each without any need for a quick Google search.
In truth, the Ford Mustang likely deserves a second mention for the graphics package on the Mach 1 trim from the early 1970s. It’s also a standout option that also passed down its graphic package to modern Fords. On the other hand, it hasn’t been so popular that other brands have picked it up.
Finally, it’s worth considering some more modern examples too. Porsche, for example, is fond of placing its historical Martini racing livery on modern production cars. Does that take it out of the running? We don’t think so. It’s still gorgeous, iconic, and attractive. Does it deserve the win here or is it another factory graphics package?
