I know a few guys who operate heavy equipment for a living and they are all rightfully proud of the skills and abilities that they have developed over the years at their job. We’re talking the talent to put huge machines into small places, get themselves out of potential trouble spots, and basically do a job that people largely underestimate the difficulty of. This video is something that they are going to love. The world Log Skidder Competition is a thing we didn’t know existed until we found this video and now we want to catch the first plane to wherever it is …whenever it is.
Competitions like this one are cool because you are taking a legitimate vocation and cranking up the intensity level about 50,000 times. It is one thing if a couple of guys on a logging crew jaw at each other at lunch about how good they are and it is wholly another when you take guys from all over the world, put them on a course that they aren’t familiar with and basically have them race through the deal with obstacles and impediments along the way.
Log skitters are bad ass tractors designed to slog and haul and generally be unstoppable in the woods. Seeing them driven as competition vehicles makes my heart go pitter-patter!
