The Skoda Octavia is by far the most popular vehicle in Ireland in February.
New car sales in Ireland continue on their strong run in February at +25.3% year-on-year to 16,440 units. This leads to a year-to-date tally up 18.3% to 47,867. Skoda (+106.8%) more than doubles its sales year-on-year to surge into pole position with a stellar 15.5% share vs. 8.6% in January. We have no record of a higher share reached by the Czech manufacturer in Ireland. Leader last month and over the Full Year 2023, Toyota (+6.4%) is bumped down to #2 while Volkswagen (+15.4%) stays at #3. Renault (+110.5%) and Nissan (+65.4%) are the most dynamic in the remainder of the Top 10, with Audi (+31.8%) also beating the market.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+268.3%) skyrockets to a clear pole position with 6.1% share vs. 4.2% for the #2, the Kia Sportage (-2.1%). The Octavia is up to #3 year-to-date vs. #9 over the Full Year 2023. Leader last month and for the past 3 years, the Hyundai Tucson (-5.1%) falls to #3 but still tops the YTD charts by a large margin. The Skoda Kodiaq (+101.6%) is up seven spots to #4, followed by a Toyota RAV4 (-12.1%) in difficulty year-on-year. The rest of the Top 10 all vastly outpace the market, with the Toyota Corolla Cross up a spectacular 1658.8%, the VW Golf up 715.1%, the VW Tiguan up 202.2%, the Skoda Karoq up 162.4% and the Nissan Qashqai up 51.1%.
