Chery Automobile will introduce three new brands across Europe over the coming two years and launch a host of compelling new SUVs.
The Chinese car manufacturer is readying the launch of the Omoda and Jaecoo brands in all major markets across Europe, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France. Its upcoming all-electric Exlantix brand is also coming to Europe and will launch electric vehicles by early 2025.
Speaking with Reuters, Chery Europe managing director Jochen Tueting revealed that the Omoda and Jaecoo brands will each launch three SUVs by the end of 2025. These will include combustion models, hybrids, and battery-electric vehicles catering to different parts of Europe.

“We’re heavily focusing with these two brands on the growing SUV segment… in order to ensure that we can develop significant sales relatively fast,” Tueting confirmed.
The first new model being launched by Chery in Europe is the Omoda 5. The sleek SUV has already been unveiled for Britain and a combustion version will soon hit the Spanish market. Tueting revealed that combustion and battery-electric versions will also launch in Germany from April next year, starting at around €30,000 ($31,393).
Tueting isn’t concerned about potential tariffs that could be placed on EVs manufactured in China and sold in Europe. In fact, Chery is so confident that its new brands will perform well that it may be able to decide on a potential European assembly plant as soon as 2024.
“Wherever we get confidence from the market that we can sell proper volumes, that’s for us the indication we should have local production as well,” he noted. Chery already operates 10 assembly plants outside of China but is not yet sure if it will buy an existing plant from a legacy maker or build its own plant in Europe.
