Malik Mack is a 6’1”, 160-pound point guard from Oxon Hill
Ed Cooley and the Georgetown Hoyas have secured a commitment from Harvard guard Malik Mack. The 6’1” point guard from Oxon Hill, MD earned Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors, averaging 17.2 ppg (.410 FG, .341 3PT) with 4.8 assists per game. He is considered one of the top point guards in the transfer portal and was a target of Virginia, Syracuse, and more. Malik Mack joins Jayden Epps and the newly committed Micah Peavy to form one of the best backcourts in the conference and beyond.

Mack reportedly visited Georgetown last weekend and canceled another college visit after seeing campus and meeting the staff face to face.

The Boston Globe described Mack, saying “Some nights, Mack catches fire and drops 20-plus. Others, he deliberately defers and provides exactly what the Crimson need,” and “Mack is mature beyond his years and doesn’t play like a typical freshman. He has gracefully navigated a family death, a bout with mononucleosis, and countless new looks from opposing defenses in year one.”

The expectation by many fans is that Georgetown can provide the academics of Harvard (if not better and closer to home), but with the NIL opportunities that the Ivy League just doesn’t have right now.
The Washington Post released a feature in March on Mack titled, “Harvard offers a lot to star guard Malik Mack. Except big NIL money,” which said, “When the regular season ended last week, Mack, Harvard’s best player, ranked fourth in the Ivy League in scoring (17.2 points per game) and first in assists (4.8). He was named the Ivy League’s rookie of the year Wednesday. But to date, he has not earned a penny of NIL money, according to his father, while many of his peers in other conferences are cashing in.”
