While the Ford Galaxie of the early 1960s may not strike modern hot rodders as the most sensible rig to convert into a pro touring style car, one has to remember the success the Galaxie had in NASCAR and in the world of road racing as Alan Mann over in England and multiple racers here stateside attacked not only the high banks and drag strips but also road courses in these cars.
No doubt that history guided the hand and Suede Speed when they turned this ’64 into a really awesome pro touring hot rod. How good is the car? We’re going to ride in side of it to give you the straight scoop here. From our perspective this thing looks pretty neat. It is not all over the place, the driver has full control the whole time, and wow is this course FAST. There are some wide open sections here that the big Ford gets a head of steam up behind it and the world is really whizzing by.
No, this is not a parking lot autocross. We know that the event is held somewhere in Minnesota but other than that we’re blank. That’s basically the same way that we are with the car. We know that it has a custom built and engineered suspension but we do not know what the engine under the hood is. We suspect it is NOT a heavy FE big block but who knows, maybe the owner will see this post and fill us in.
All we know is that we love a hard running Galaxie and this one seriously fits that description!
