The South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motors India has reportedly delayed the launch of the new Alcazar facelift. According to reports, the upcoming Alcazar will now be hitting the Indian car market around September-October 2024. Prior to this update, it was believed that Hyundai would be launching the Alcazar facelift around the middle of this year. This delay has been attributed to the need of clearing out inventory of the outgoing model.
Hyundai Alcazar facelift launch delayed
As per the reports from Autocar India, the Hyundai Alcazar has been delayed due to dealer inventories still being filled with the current model. The seven-seater version of the immensely popular Creta has not been selling as well as the Creta. This is why dealerships have accumulated a lot of stock of the existing model.
So in order to first clear out the inventory, the company has delayed the launch of the new Alcazar facelift. The new Alcazar will be based on the new Creta which gets a brand-new exterior redesign. Most likely, the Alcazar will also get the same split headlamp design with a connected LED DRL at the front.
However, subtle changes like an updated grille, new bumper, and other design elements are also expected. In addition, the rear could also get a completely different design just like the existing model, which looks entirely different from pre-facelift Creta.
2024 Hyundai Alcazar: Interior
On the inside, the new Alcazar facelift is expected to get a refreshed design. It will most likely adopt the new dashboard layout from the Creta facelift. This could potentially include the new 10.25-inch connected-screen setup.
As per the reports, it will still be available in both six- and seven-seat configurations. Additionally, it is expected to get the panoramic sunroof, ADAS suite, and other features from the updated Creta.
2024 Hyundai Alcazar: Engine and competition
Mechanically, the Hyundai Alcazar facelift is expected to remain the same as the current model. Its engine options will include the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol motor generates 160 PS and 253 Nm.
It will come paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). On the other hand, the 1.5-litre diesel engine will produce around 116 PS and 250 Nm.
The diesel motor will be offered with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Currently, the outgoing Creta also offers a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. However, it is believed that this engine will not be carried over to the Alcazar facelift.
Once launched, the Alcazar facelift will continue to compete with models like the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700. It will also be taking on the newly facelifted MG Hector Plus. Expect a slight increase in price due to the updates. Currently, the Alcazar starts at Rs 16.77 lakh and goes up to Rs 21.28 lakh.
In other Hyundai news, it was recently revealed that the company is planning to launch strong hybrid vehicles in India. It will most likely offer the new Creta, Alcazar facelift, Verna, and Venue with strong hybrid powertrains. These strong powertrains will be replacing the diesel engines.
