Tata Motors’ premium hatchback Altroz is known for its unique styling and build quality. The hatchback has been in the market for quite some time. Tata had showcased a sportier version of the Altroz as Altroz Racer at the Auto Expo as well as at the Bharat Mobility Expo. Tata has been working on the sportier version of the Altroz for some time and we have spy shots of the car as well. Tata has now released a teaser image of the upcoming Altroz Racer hinting that they’ll be launching the new version in the market soon.
Tata is expected to launch the new Altroz Racer in the market next month. The newly released teaser image shows the side profile of the car. Just like the car that Tata displayed at the Expo, the Altroz racer is finished in a dual-tone shade of Red and Black. The side profile of the car reveals that the alloy wheel design of Altroz racer is going to be the same as regular version. However, it is possible that the it might get a gun metal finish for a sportier look.
The lower window line, ORVMs, roof mounted spoiler are all finished in gloss black. We also see a side skirt which gives the car a different look. The front fender of the car is not visible in the image however, we expect it to get Racer badge as seen in the concept version displayed before.
The bonnet of the car is also expected to be finished in black shade. There will be white coloured racing strip that starts from the bonnet and goes all the way to the roof of the car. The tailgate will also be blacked out.
Just like the exterior, interior of the Altroz Racer is expected to get a dual-tone theme. The cabin is likely to be finished in black with orange or red inserts at places. When compared to the regular Altroz, the Racer version is expected to get more features.
The car will gets a brand new floating type touchscreen infotainment system with Tata’s new UI. The instrument cluster will be fully digital and it would also offer ventilated seats which will be segment first feature.
We also expect features like sunroof, 360 degree camera and HUD with the Altroz Racer. Coming to the engine option, Tata Altroz is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. In fact, it is the only hatchback in the segment to offer a diesel engine option. The Altroz racer will be offered with a turbo petrol engine only.
Unlike the iTurbo variant, the Racer version will generate more power. The Altroz Racer will be powered by a 1.2 litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that generates 120 Ps and 170 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. It needs to be seen if Tata will introduce the DCA option with this engine option.
The Altroz Racer will compete with the likes of Hyundai i20 N Line in the segment. It will be priced aggressively and will be placed above the iTurbo variant which has a starting price of Rs 9.20 lakh, ex-showroom.
