After being abandoned in a Minnesota barn for around 30 years, two barn find classic cars, a 1970 Pontiac Bonneville and Tri-Five 1956 Chevrolet come out of hiding, but will they run and drive?
YouTube channel Junkyard Digs documented the classic car revival, which began with clearing space around the vehicles for better access. It appears both vehicles are in decent condition despite sitting for so long. Hints of rust can be seen through the layers of dust, but both cars appear to be mostly complete, so perhaps starting them up won’t be too difficult of a task.
First, the team tackled the Bonneville, which once uncovered, showed a badge indicating it’s a 455 model. The interior is in unusually good condition for a barn find car and even still held some luggage and maps, hinting at its previous life. The hood was lifted to display a complete V8, and the team got to work, trying to get it to start with a bit of a struggle.
We’ll avoid spoiling the result and instead move on to the Tri-Five Chevrolet that the team uncovered next. The eye-catching two-tone blue paint is still intact, and perhaps the biggest concern is the mouse droppings in the interior. The guys determine that the car’s tires are from the 1970s at the newest, further validating just how long the 1956 Chevy had been parked. The engine was thirsty for fluids but being no stranger to barn find and field find recoveries, Junkyard Digs came prepared.
