West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta remains in a precarious position. The English Football Association has charged him with breaching its betting rules.
The FA argues that Paqueta tried influencing betting markets in four games during the 2022-23 season.

The outcome of this case remains uncertain, but if found guilty, the West Ham player could face a 10-year ban from football. “I am extremely surprised and upset The FA has decided to charge me,” he shared on Instagram.
Despite the fragility of Lucas Paqueta’s career — he’s no longer a summer transfer target for Manchester City because of the FA charge — the Brazilian national team has decided to stick to the player’s inclusion on this summer’s Copa America roster. CBF Futebol issued a letter to the FA on Thursday supporting Paqueta’s role in the summer tournament.
