“We need to build our car for combat.” “How am I supposed to make that safe?” “Who said anything about ‘safe?'” Apple TV + Warner Bros have launched the first look teaser trailer for the new F1 movie, directed by Joe Kosinski (of Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, Top Gun: Maverick). This first trailer debuted during the British Grand Prix Formula 1 race today – with the movie set for release in the summer of 2025 next year. This is a massive production (following Kosinski’s Top Gun being a massive hit), with reports saying the budget has risen up to $300 million, including filming during actual real F1 races with Brad Pitt and the cast walking on the raceway. F1 is about a famous Formula One driver who, after a horrific crash years ago, comes out of retirement to mentor and team with a younger driver – played by Damson Idris. (So, this is pretty much Top Gun: Maverick again but with cars?)
