The next Losing Heroine in the blocks is the whimsically-named Yakishio Lemon, a tanned track ace who is popular with the guys but only has eyes for her childhood friend, the tall, silver-haired Ayano Mitsuki. When Lemon spots Kazuhiko going into the storage room for cleaning duty, she follows him in.
While she seems ready to confess, she actually wants to talk with him about the books Mitsuki wants to borrow from the Lit Club. Kazuhiko proposes she arrange for her and Mitsuki to come to the club together, an idea she hadn’t thought of but loves. She praises Kazuhiko and admits she had the wrong idea about him.
Naturally, Lemon manages to get them locked in the storage shed on the hottest day yet of the year. She soon overheats and becomes delirious, and when all Kazuhiko has to offer is a cooling spray, she wastes no time stripping off her tee and sports bra, believing in her heat-addled state that he’s another girl.
They’re eventually discovered by Kazuhiko’s Amanatsu-sensei, who assumes they’re up to some hanky-panky and re-closes the door. But despite how it looks, it’s not what it looks like at all. Kazuhiko end up going to the nurse’s office to cool down and hydrate, and Lemon doesn’t recall taking her top off.
When Anna visits Kazuhiko with homemade omelet rice with fancy white sauce worth 600 yen, it’s extremely sweet, to the point the Nurse Konuki assumes she’s his girlfriend and leaves them alone. Anna and Lemon have a little fun with Kazuhiko when he insists he saw nothing earlier, then tease him when Anna lets Lemon taste Kazuhiko’s portion of the rice—technically an indirect kiss.
Kazuhiko is let off the hook when Mitsuki comes to check on Lemon, which makes her day, only for Mitsuki’s pretty friend Chihaya to come in and have a whole lovey-dovey back-and-forth with him. However Lemon feels about Mitsuki, it’s clear he only sees her as a good old friend.
In the Lit Club, Kazuhiko starts to get the lay of the land in terms of the love triangle going on there. The president Tamaki Shintarou is childhood friends with Tsukinoki Koto, while the tiny Komari Chika has a unrequited crush on Tamaki. Kazuhiko’s sister Kaju thinks he’s lying when he says he talked to at least five people, but it’s the truth!
The next day there’s the big event with Lemon accompanying Mitsuki to the Lit Club to borrow books, but when Koto mistakes them for a couple, Mitsuki says he’d “never have a chance” with Lemon since she’s so popular with the guys. Lemon takes exception to that, but then Mitsuki states matter-of-factly that as of very recently he already has a girlfriend, and it’s Chihaya.
When Mitsuki leaves the clubroom a heartbroken Lemon hangs back, and not knowing what else to do, fills out a membership form. Anna takes her out to the very same restaurant where she was rejected, and insists she and Kazuhiko treat her.
Kazuhiko goes along with this, and Lemon really does seemed cheered up by the gesture. But when it comes time to pay, Anna realizes she doesn’t have enough cash, and her balance due to Kazuhiko grows by a cool 1,000 yen.
Later that night, while Nurse Konuki is listening to the recordings of the students interacting so she can draw a diagram of their relationships (a hobby that would probably get her fired if her bosses found out), she notices someone outside running; it’s Lemon, whose track club didn’t meet that day.
Konuki tells her to head home, but allows her to go one more lap. Kazuhiko’s inner monologue mentioned that Lemon has been running in circles both literally and with Mitsuki, only to end up rejected. What makes it even tougher is that he ended up with someone else because she didn’t make clear in a timely enough fashion that he had a chance with her. But Lemon’s not going in circles anymore. Now she feels she has somewhere to run to.
