Ford Everest Tremor Is The Most Capable Version Of The Ranger-Based SUV Yet

  • The Ford Everest gets the Tremor treatment, following the example of the Ranger.
  • Upgrades include a new set of all-terrain tires and a Tremor-specific suspension.
  • The SUV is exclusively available in Australia, featuring a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel.

The Ford Everest, the SUV counterpart of the Ranger pickup, finally got an off-road-focused derivative. The Everest Tremor debuted in Australia with beefed up suspension, all-terrain tires, a turbodiesel V6 and a few Raptor-inspired features.

The new addition to Ford’s lineup comes shortly after the debut of the Ranger Tremor Down Under. The Everest Tremor gets a similar treatment, looking more adventurous than ever.

The exterior is distinguished by the new honeycomb grille, a steel bash plate, heavy-duty side steps, and orange Tremor badges contrasting with the exclusive Command Grey shade. Inside, Ford added Tremor-embossed leather seats, all-weather floor mats, and ebony-colored inserts.

One of the highlights of the Everest Tremor is the black wheels shod in General Grabber AT3 All-Terrain tires, improving traction off the beaten track. These are combined with Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers and new springs, bringing a 26 mm (1 inch) increase in the ground clearance. The SUV also benefits from a Rock Crawl mode, just like the Ranger Raptor.

Ford Everest Tremor Is The Most Capable Version Of The Ranger-Based SUV Yet

The Everest Tremor is exclusively available with a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, producing 247 hp (184 kW / 250 PS) and 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft) of torque, while retaining the 3,500 kg (7,716 pounds) of maximum braked towing capacity. The powertrain is one of the differences with the Ranger Tremor, which gets the smaller 2.0-liter bi-turbodiesel. In any case, power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

The Ford Everest Tremor is priced at AU$ 76,590 (US$ 51,675), which makes it AU$ 6,900 (US$ 4,655) more expensive than the Ranger Tremor, while remaining cheaper than the Everest Platinum flagship. Optional features include the Rough Terrain Pack, adding off-road accessories from ARB, as well as the Touring Pack, Premium Seat Pack, and Towing Pack.

The SUV is already available to order through Australian dealers, and is scheduled to enter production in November 2024. While the Ranger Tremor is limited to 1,150 units for Australia, the company didn’t mention how many Everest Tremors it will build.

Before the Tremor, the most capable version of the Everest was the Wildtrak which is available in other markets like New Zealand and South Africa. A few years back, Ford said it had no plans for an Everest Raptor, although that could change if the Tremor becomes a sales hit.
