While Lili gave a solid speech, it doesn’t change the fact that many people either involved or not involved in the coming war game believed Hestia Familia’s alliance wouldn’t stand a chance against Freya. Lili doesn’t even bother having any defensive formations, instead sending out 70% of her army as scouts to quickly locate Freya and steal her flower.
But while this game is ostensibly Hide-and-Seek, Freya and her familia simply…don’t hide. Unlike Lili who spreads her forces out across over half of the island, Freya’s strategist Hedin keeps all his forces concentrated around their fortress. In chess terms, he puts Lili in zugzwang, forcing her to make a move—in this case, launching what is sure to be a suicide attack.
Lili’s forces reach Freya’s fortress and start attacking its defensive lines with magical sword attacks. But it’s all for naught, as Heith revives the forces with a snap of the finger. With her opponents’ magic swords thus extinguished, Heith, who is far more than a healer, is able to quickly dispatch all comers. Even when she’s burnt to a crisp, she quickly auto-heals (though notably her clothes are not recreated).
The Hestia Alliance’s only hope is for Bell to quickly defeat Ottarl with his Argo Vesta. He’s still charging it when he encounters Van, who feels obligated to defeat the guy he took under his wing. But Bell isn’t the same person he sparred with back at Freya’s castle, and Van is defeated by Bell as easily as swatting a fly.
But there’s always a bigger fish, and it comes for Bell in the form of Ottarl. I don’t believe we’ve really seen the big guy in action before, but he’s a man of few words and minimal movements. He sees Bell charging and decides to give him one free shot. Bell then launches Argo Vesta, and Ottarl remarks that it was a successful and impressive attack.
But the thing is, it just isn’t enough against Ottarl. Bell is only recently Level 5, while Ottarl is known to have defeated Level 7s. Bell gave it his best shot, and now both he and Hestia Familia seem on the cusp of defeat. It’s only Ottarl who believes the bloodied Bell can and should get back up.
This week Heith showed just how fanatical she is about Freya (particularly keeping the stench of losers far away from her mistress). But Ottarl is just as if not more loyal. He doesn’t simply want Bell to lose and be captured. First, he wants Bell to prove he’s worthy of Freya’s love.
