D’Angelo Russell has been traded by the LA Lakers to the Brooklyn Nets and Skip Bayless has approved of the trade.
D-Lo struggled to break into the starting lineup with the Lakers and had to settle for a bench role, something which he said he was embracing.
Despite his previous comments about the Nets GM Sean Marks the move should be beneficial for all parties including one Nets star looking to refind their former glory days.
Ben Simmons could thrive following D’Lo’s arrival
Perhaps one of the biggest mysteries in the NBA today is the drop-off of Simmonds since joining the Nets in 2022.
The Australian has not averaged more than 6.9 points per season since being traded by the Philadelphia 76ers, his rebounds and assists are also struggling to meet his former levels.
Simmons’ drop-off is so large that it is now being used as a reference point for other players and despite still playing regular minutes is struggling to make an impact.
However, the arrival of D-Lo could be a chance for him to find his best form as the pair have a friendship that goes back to winning high school championships together.
The pair helped dominate for the basketball powerhouse that is Montverde Academy and went 45-2 in their two years winning back-to-back championships.

Simmons struggles in Brooklyn
Many NBA fans thought Simmons’ time in the league was up but he is still being given a chance by the Nets, but for how much longer?
Simmons is currently averaging just six points alongside 5.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists this season. While back in Philadelphia he dropped no fewer than 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists in his worst season.
The arrival of Russell could be exactly what Simmons needs to refind his best form which has long deserted him.
With D-Lo looking to rebuild his reputation following a stint on the Lakers bench he could help give Simmons the drive to team up and refind their former magic.
