“We’ll always have this island… and your beautiful music.” Focus Features has revealed the official trailer for a new British musical called The Ballad of Wallis Island, arriving in theaters this March. It’s set to premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival kicking off next week in Utah, before it hits select US theaters in just a months. “He’s getting the band back together.” The Ballad of Wallis Island follows Charles (Tim Key), an eccentric lottery winner who lives alone on an island and dreams of getting his favorite musicians, Mortimer-McGwyer (Carey Mulligan & Tom Basden) back together. His fantasy turns into reality when the bandmates and former lovers accept his invitation to play a private show at his home on Wallis Island. Old tensions resurface as Charles tries desperately to salvage his dream gig.
