Natsuko is suspicious of Memmeln, since in the movie she’s revealed to be the true form of the Ultimate Void killed by Luke. Natsuko follows her, but Luke follows Natsuko, so she has no choice but to share her suspicions. Then they enter a secret meeting place for Memmeln’s “choir practice,” which is really a venue for rituals to summon the Ultimate Void so he can destroy the Last Town and end the world and everyone in it.
Why is Memmeln doing this? Well, when Luke’s small talk fails Natsuko calls her out, and she explains that as a nigh-eternal elf she’s had enough of existing, watching the cycle of violence and death that only leads to lonelieness. She’s rather end it all here and now, while she and the others are still together, before she inevitably loses them. This revelation causes Luke to weep…but out of sympathy to Memmeln and what she’s been through.
Using crude drawings that make Natsuko laugh, Luke proposes a solution: Natsuko summons a near-as-makes-no-difference “Ultimate Void” that then commands Mammeln and the other cultists to go on living. But before her pegbar wakes up, the cult carries out a ritual that transforms Memmeln into the Ultimate Void.
Natsuko counters it with a different kind of summoning: that of one of the bishounen male idols from the first anime project she ever worked on. This debonair cutie charms all the members of the cult, including Memmeln, who joins him in a duet that celebrates existing, rather than decrying it as a curse.
Natsuko is able to successfully shift the “fandom,” as it were, of Memmeln and her cult from the destructive and nihilistic Ultimate Void to the positive, optimistic “Ultimate Exister,” and she’s happy to supply her elvish friend with whatever drawings of her dashing new idol she might desire.
Unio and QJ are filled in later, and Unio admits he had become suspicious about Luke and Natsuko dating. Luke’s over-the-top reaction to this suggests there’s definitely some merit to Unio’s suspicions; even if there’s nothing really going on between the hero and the “aneemator,” the mere of thought of it makes someone like Luke blush.
