The Boston Celtics are trying to find form as they head towards the trade deadline and All-Star break.
Despite being the reigning and defending world champions, the Boston Celtics have encountered plenty of highs and lows recently.
In their past 10 games, the Celtics still managed to put up a positive 6-4 card. But among these losses were gut-wrenching ones — from the overtime heartbreaker against the Atlanta Hawks to the last-second collapse in front of the Houston Rockets.
The defeats have restricted Boston in chasing the current top seed Cleveland Cavaliers, currently holding a 33-15 record in the league standings as the East’s No. 2 team.

Their mixed form simply gives the Celtics a little sense of urgency that perhaps a move or two have to be made.
Although the team is pretty much intact already in its main core and supporting cast, the franchise’s top executive Brad Stevens may still remain determined to bring another talent who could help the Celtics in its ongoing title defense.
And for Boston legend Cedric Maxwell, the Celtics should consider pursuing Lonnie Walker IV as a solution.
“You never fall in love with the product, you always look to make it better. Give me another guy who is a scorer, who is a bucket getter, Lonnie Walker is a bucket getter,” he said in his Cedric Maxwell Podcast.
“To have him in the fold would be really cool, another card that can be played. Just a jump-start for this team. Right now they are on cruise control.
“You cannot tell me this team is that good on the road and then they lose their focus when they come back home, to some teams that are inferior.”
Celtics reuniting with Lonnie Walker IV would be special
Both former 2018 first round draft pick Walker IV and the Celtics have a mutual connection to each other.
Boston notably signed Walker IV this past summer on an Exhibit 10 — a non guaranteed deal. The prolific shooting guard showcased in every opportunity that he had from the training camp and in the preseason.
But he was eventually left unsigned by the Celtics to start the 2024-25 season because of a possible huge tax penalty that they would take in adding him to their roster.
Yet interestingly last month, the interest of the Celtics around Walker IV was revived when it was revealed by longtime NBA insider Marc Stein that they are one of the key few contending teams being identified as potential suitors for the 25-year-old, should he return to the league after an ongoing play in Europe.
It would be intriguing to see if the Celtics will perhaps make a run once again for Walker IV. With the sixth man sensation’s scoring outburst and reliable production, he could be a useful candidate to consider for their hunt towards back-to-back supremacy.
