After Joel Embiid decided to play for the USA in the 2024 Olympic Games, French Federation president Jean-Pierre Siutat expressed regret over the efforts his national team invested in trying to recruit the Philadelphia 76ers center, considering it a waste of “time and energy.”
“I met him [Joel Embiid] with Boris Diaw [French national team general manager] during a dinner in March 2022. We never went looking for him, we never asked,” Siutat said, per L’Equipe.
