Recently, Mercedes-Benz conducted the first-ever collision between two electric cars, and the results were very interesting, showing how the vehicles were impacted by the crash. Here is a crash from India that happened between an MG Comet EV and a Toyota Innova HyCross. The result is as follows.
The incident occurred on a highway. It appears that the MG Comet EV driver failed to apply the brakes in time and crashed into the rear of the Toyota Innova HyCross. The video, taken from another vehicle passing through the accident site, shows the aftermath.

The rear of the Innova HyCross sustained substantial damage. In fact, compared to the front end of the MG Comet, there is a significant depression in the rear end of the Innova HyCross. While the bumper of the MG Comet has some damage and appears to be broken, there is damage to the metal body of the Innova HyCross.
Most of the structures designed to absorb the impact of an accident are located in the front of the vehicle. While we cannot comment on the exact crumple zones of the Innova Crysta, we can say that everyone involved in this accident emerged safely without any injuries. In fact, you can see people getting out of the car without any signs of shock or injury.
MG Comet EV
The MG Comet EV is equipped with a high-strength vehicle body that incorporates 17 hot stamping panels, ensuring structural safety. Additionally, the vehicle and battery safety undergo 39 stringent tests.
To enhance safety further, the MG Comet EV includes both active and passive standard safety features. These features include Dual Front Airbags, ABS + EBD, Front & Rear 3 pt. Seat Belts, Rear Parking Camera & Sensor, TPMS (Indirect), and ISOFIX Child Seat provision.
Despite being the smallest four-wheeled vehicle available in India, the Comet prioritizes space efficiency. It is built on an electric skateboard architecture with its long 2,010mm wheelbase and boxy shape. On the exterior, the design features a two-tone finish for the front fascia, a tall and stubby nose, and a wraparound strip under the windscreen with LED lighting elements that extend to the wing mirrors.
The MG Comet EV is powered by a 17.3 kWh battery pack, which takes approximately 7 hours to charge from 0 to 100% using a regular home socket. MG provides a 3.3 kW charger with the car, but fast charging is not available for the MG Comet EV. It offers a range of 230 km according to official figures. The electric motor produces a maximum power of 42 PS and a peak torque of 110 Nm.
