Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE), the makers of the iconic Yenko Camaro, is now producing a supercharged 7.0-liter V8 Yenko/SC Stage III package that delivers 1,500 horsepower and 1,280 lb-ft of torque on race fuel. Talk about a powerful send off for what is reportedly Chevrolet’s last naturally aspirated Camaro muscle car offering.
SVE’s Stage III kit is based off of the factory Camaro SS 1LE track performance package model, much like the Stage I and Stage II options. While the latest Stage III offering produces as much horsepower as a 2016-2020 Bugatti Chiron or a 2016 Koenigsegg Regera supercar, the company’s Stage II setup scoops up a solid helping of 1,200 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque, more horsepower than a Dodge Demon 170. The Yenko Stage I takes it down a notch to 1,150 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. Both the Stage I and Stage II use the LT1-based 6.8-liter V8 in place of the Stage III’s monster 7.0-liter iron block. Buyers can choose between a manual or automatic transmission with all stages.

Regardless of the selected stage, all engines feature a computer-balanced race-quality rotating assembly, forged 4340 steel crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons, CNC ported high-flow LT4 cylinder heads with high-lift springs, ARP high-strength head and main studs, a custom supercharger with a 10-rib dedicated belt drive system, an upgraded fuel system, a larger throttle body, and a custom stainless steel exhaust system. The Stage I and II setups include forged H-beam steel rods, while the Stage III utilizes forged pro series I-beam rods, plus an upgraded valve train.
Aside from the power boost, SVE mostly leaves the Camaro 1LE equipment alone, including the suspension with magnetic dampers, GM’s electronic limited-slip differential, plus performance traction management. The interior, featuring Recaro seats, is also mostly the same but with Yenko embroidered floor mats, headrest logos and a Yenko crest power badge, while the exterior is given an appearance package that separates the Yenko from the rest. Taking cues from the original Yenko Camaro, the modern Yenko/SC displays an optional black body stripe that enhances the Camaro’s muscular body line and reads “Yenko/SC” on the rear quarter panels. A raised carbon fiber hood is fitted over the larger engine, and a sizable rear wing on the Stage III helps keep the tires pressed to the pavement.

SVE will build only 50 examples of each Stage I and Stage II Camaro Yenko/SC model, plus 100 Stage III powerhouses, all available exclusively through GM dealers in Canada and the United States. Prices are not yet listed on the SVE website for the Stage III, but the Stage II upgrade starts at $85,995, not including the cost of a donor Camaro.
California residents: It’s important to note that the Yenko/SC Camaros are not emissions-legal in the Golden State and can only be driven in sanctioned motorsports events.
