The Boy and the Heron, the latest film by Studio Ghibli legend Hayao Miyazaki, has revealed an all-star cast and poster for its English dub!
The English-language version will star Christian Bale as Shoichi Maki, Dave Bautista as the Parakeet King, and Gemma Chan as Natsuko.
Other confirmed cast members include Willem Dafoe as Noble Pelican, Karen Fukuhara as Lady Himi, Mark Hamill as Granduncle, Robert Pattinson as Gray Heron, Florence Pugh as Kiriko, Luca Padovan as Mahito Maki, and Mamoudou Athie, Tony Revolori, and Dan Stevens as The Parakeets.
Produced by Studio Ghibli with music by Joe Hisaishi, the film premiered in Japan on July 14, 2023, without any traditional publicity, leaving fans with only an official poster.
It then made its international premiere on September 7 at the Toronto International Film Festival, and is now set to be released in the US on December 8 by GKIDS Films.
Soma Santoki stars as Mahito Maki alongside Masaki Suda as the Grey Heron and Aimyon as Himi.
The Boy and the Heron is currently screening in Japan. Its US release is set for December 8, 2023.
