When the TPI small block came out, it was the high performance combo that powered Corvettes and Camaros. It didn’t make much power, but it made more than most anything else available at the time. It also didn’t rev much. And people always said it was the Tuned Port Injection intake that kept it from revving. Other folks say it was the horrible HEI ignitions. It might have had something to do with the tiny camshaft as well. But one thing everyone always talked about was the fact that the long runners on a TPI unit were good for torque. So if this is true, can you make 500 lb-ft of torque with one on a 350? How about a 383? Richard Holdener is doing the tests right here.
