The film originally opened in April 2023 earlier this year, after first opening in Japan in late 2022 almost one year ago. Suzume already earned an impressive $10 million at the US box office during its initial opening in the spring earlier this year. It is also celebrated as one of the most successful modern animated films in Japan, becoming the fourth highest-grossing film of 2022 in Japan in only two months.
