Stellantis chief financial officer Natalie Knight has revealed the next-generation Peugeot 5008 will launch in August next year and will include an all-electric version.
We’ve known about the next-gen 5008 since the start of this year when Peugeot confirmed an electric version was in the works. Fast forward to August and our spy photographers snapped the new 5008 testing in ICE guise before an electric prototype was seen in September. Like the smaller 3008, it will be underpinned by the Stellantis STLA Medium platform that supports EVs with ranges of up to 435 miles (700 km).
Knight confirmed that the 5008 will launch next year while speaking with analysts about the firm’s third-quarter results. She described it as one of the Stellantis group’s key European EV launches that have been penciled in for 2024. Others also set to launch next year will be the e-408, the Fiat 600e, and the Fiat Topolino quadricycle.

While the next-generation 5008 is just around the corner, the outgoing model remains popular. In fact, some 34,560 examples had been sold through September this year, a significant increase from the 26,425 sold over the same period last year. Auto News notes that it was the fifth best-seller in the midsize/large SUV segment.
The new Peugeot 5008 is expected to follow a similar design philosophy to the latest 3008, although it will be more of a traditionally shaped SUV as opposed to a coupe SUV. We expect the 5008’s front fascia to adopt similar HED headlights and DRLs to the 3008 and it may have the same complex grille arrangement.
Powertrain details have not been confirmed but we know the new 5008 will be offered in hybrid and battery-electric guises. One of these hybrids will probably be the 48-volt 1.2-liter PureTech petrol engine that Peugeot launched earlier this year in the 3008 and 5008. This new engine is turbocharged and supplemented by an electric motor with 28 hp and 41 lb-ft (55 Nm) of torque, making for a combined 134 hp and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm). Electric versions could be similar to the E-3008 which is offered with 73 kWh and 98 kWh battery packs with power figures ranging from 207 to 316 hp.
