What happens when two of the most popular SUVs face each other in a series of drag races? Well, the answer is very simple: pure entertainment. Recently, the all-new 2023 Tata Harrier facelift Dark Edition mid-size SUV was pitted against the country’s most popular SUV, the Mahindra Scorpio-N. The main objective was to determine the winner of the drag races held between them, and the result was a highly entertaining video, which was recently shared online.
The video of the drag race between the new Harrier facelift Dark Edition and the Mahindra Scorpio-N has been shared on YouTube by Rohan Makania on their channel. It starts with the presenter showing the two SUVs in front and giving introductions and power specifications for both. He mentions that the Harrier facelift belongs to his friend, while the Scorpio-N belongs to him.

Power Specifications
The presenter then states that the Harrier facelift in front is the top-of-the-line Dark Edition model. It is powered by the same 2.0-liter Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine, producing a maximum of 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. He adds that the Harrier is around 200-300 kgs lighter than the Scorpio-N and has a front-wheel-drive layout.
Next, he mentions the engine specifications of his Scorpio-N. He states that the Mahindra SUV is powered by a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generates a maximum of 175 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. He adds that both SUVs come equipped with 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions. Another difference highlighted by the presenter is that the Harrier is a monocoque chassis SUV, while the Scorpio-N is a ladder-on-frame SUV. Additionally, the vlogger mentions that the Scorpio-N is rear-wheel-drive (RWD).
Harrier facelift vs. Scorpio-N Drag Races
Following the introductions of both SUVs, the vlogger takes the seat behind the steering wheel of the Scorpio-N. He mentions that for the first drag race, they will keep the SUVs in sports mode, known as the Zip mode in the Scorpio-N. Additionally, they will keep their air conditioning systems off, and he will deactivate his traction control as well. Following this, they both line up at the start line, and on the count of three, they start the race.
In the first race, the Mahindra Scorpio-N easily takes the lead from the Tata Harrier facelift and leaves it far behind. The driver mentions that this result has been achieved without even engaging the vehicle in a more powerful mode. After this, they start the race again with the same settings as before. This time as well, the Scorpio-N easily wins the race and leaves the Harrier facelift Dark Edition in the dust.
For the third round, the driver of the Mahindra Scorpio-N engages the Zap mode on his SUV. He mentions that he will keep the air conditioner on and will also turn on the traction control system. This time, after the count of three, it seems like the Harrier will keep up, but it does not and once again loses quite significantly.
Following this, for the last round, the driver of the Harrier facelift puts the vehicle in manual mode and uses the paddle shifters for gear changes. Also, the Scorpio-N driver puts the vehicle in Zoom mode, the fastest mode, and turns off the air conditioner. Once again, as no surprise to anyone, the new Harrier facelift Dark Edition loses out to the mighty Mahindra Scorpio-N.
