Maintaining a classic or vintage car is a task in itself. Sourcing parts to keep the car running is quite difficult, and that is one of the reasons why many people actually scrap such vehicles. However, there are some people who have a soft spot for such classic cars and are willing to invest the time and money required to maintain them. Here, we have a video where a 50-year-old Fiat (Premier Padmini) was actually restored to its pristine condition.
The video has been uploaded by Brotomotiv on their YouTube channel. The car came to the workshop in 2021. When the owner brought the car, he wanted them to completely restore it and bring it back to life. The Fiat 1100 sedan was 50 years old and had a green paint job. The car was showing its age and had major rust issues. The workshop took this as a challenge and started working on it.

They began by stripping the car completely. While removing the glass panels and windows, they noticed that there were more hidden areas with rust. The seats were all damaged, as was the roof liner, and all of it was removed from the car. Only the car’s shell remained for work. They started scraping off the excess paint from the car. They realized that the previous workshop had not properly fixed many panels with rust; they had simply applied putty on top of cracks and rusted panels.
This made things a lot more challenging. They were much more careful while stripping the paint, and after completely removing the paint, they replaced all the rusted panels by welding new metal sheets. Even the cabin had several panels that were eaten away by rust. The car was then given a coat of primer to protect the paint from rust. Once the dents were fixed, they applied a thin coat of body filler and putty on top to achieve the desired shape. They later sanded off the excess putty.
Once this was done, they put the car on the lift and started inspecting the underbody. They realized that the chassis of the car was also rusted and needed work. They cut off panels where there was rust and then welded back fresh metal sheets. This gave the chassis the much-needed strength. The engine of the car was also removed because it needed work.
While the team was working on the car, the owner finalized the car’s paint. He chose the Sage Green shade, which is usually seen on Aston Martins. After repairing the engine, it was reinstalled in the car, and they took the car for a test drive before taking it to the paint booth. The base coat was already applied to the car, and then the car was painted in the Sage Green shade. The finished product looked brilliant. The wheels were all painted in silver to complement the green exterior shade.
The car’s interior was also redone, including the door pads, seats, and roof liner. The car did face a minor issue after the work was completed; however, this was fixed immediately and delivered. The entire project took over a year and a half to complete. This shows how exhausting and time-consuming a restoration project like this can be. The finished product looked stunning, like a brand new Fiat 1100 fresh off the production line.
