The Mahindra Thar is one of those SUVs that quickly gained buyers’ attention in its current avatar. It is a capable off-roader and is a common sight in many SUV owners’ groups. The main reason why many people are actually buying the Thar is because it looks imposing on the road. There have been instances where Mahindra Thar drivers are seen taking advantage of the imposing looks and off-road abilities on public roads. They often perform stunts and create a nuisance for other road users. Here, we have a video where a Mahindra Thar driver is seen driving over the flexible plastic barriers or medians placed in the middle of the road.
The video has been shared by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel. The video was shared with him by one of his subscribers online. The exact location where this video was recorded is not known. However, looking at the video, it seems to be somewhere in North India. The video was recorded by a person who was traveling in another car in front of the Thar. It appears that the owner of the Mahindra Thar was prepared to do this stunt as we do not see the registration number on the SUV.
The SUV is driven on a public road, and we can see other vehicles and auto rickshaws behind the Thar. The road is narrow, and only one vehicle can easily go through one side. The Mahindra Thar driver has space on his left; however, he decides to drive the car over the plastic barriers that were placed in the middle of the road. It is not clear if the Thar driver was doing this stunt for a social media video. The SUV was clearly going over the barriers.
As these plastic barriers or dividers were flexible, they were not damaging the car in any manner. Whatever the reason may be, it was actually a stupid thing to do. By doing such stunts, the Mahindra Thar driver is actually damaging public property. These barriers actually have reflectors installed in them. They often guide road users at night when there is not enough light on the road. If these dividers or barriers are damaged, the car drivers might not realize the limits, and they might drive into the opposite lane, causing an accident.
These barriers are installed on the road using bolts. These barriers have a longer life as they are flexible; however, that doesn’t mean you can actually drive over them. The vlogger mentions in the video that if there were a couple of concrete barriers in between the plastic ones, the Mahindra Thar driver would have learned his lesson.
We hope the local police can actually trace the location and trace the video to the owner of the Mahindra Thar who did this stuff. In the past, we have seen cases where traffic police have taken strict action against social media influencers who were pulling off stunts on public roads. They do these stunts to gain popularity on the internet. These stunts often end up in accidents too. The drivers or riders often risk their own lives and the lives of other innocent road users for such stunts.
