The Wolf of Wallstreet was launched in the United Stated on December 25, 2023, by Paramount Pictures. Aside from starring actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, and Matthew McConaughey, a 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Coupé lit up the screen and left in a dramatic crash, leaving the automotive enthusiasts in the audience wondering what happened to the supercar after the film.
Two Lamborghini Countach’s were used to complete the movie: the hero car that was smashed after some bad decisions were made before Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio) took the wheel, and a backup Lambo that appeared in a couple quick shots. The Countach that didn’t sustain crash damages is coincidentally heading to auction this December, with an estimated hammer price of between $1,500,000 to $2,000,000. In total, 657 25th Anniversary Edition Countachs were produced.
The crashed movie car will be sold by Bonhams and is reportedly perfectly preserved since the film’s release. The incredible photos captured for the lot listing show the damage in more detail than what the film offered. According to an interview with The Drive earlier this year, the film director wasn’t satisfied with the typical methods of smashing up a movie car and the damage was further dramatized by crashing into other objects for a more convincing appearance. Good news for what is arguably the most iconic scene in the movie, but bad news for the rare Lamborghini.
Estimated to sell for between $1,500,000 and $2,000,000, the famous Wolf of Wall Street Lamborghini Countach, with several pieces of memorabilia from the film, will cross the Bonhams block on November 25, 2023, at the Abu Dhabi Auction alongside other noteworthy cars like a 1978 Lotus-Cosworth Ford Type 79 ‘John Player Special (Estimate: $6,500,000 – $9,500,000), a 2006 McLaren-Mercedes-Benz MP4/21 (Estimate: $2,500,000 – $3,500,000), and a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder (Estimate: $1,250,000 – $1,500,000).
