Utah State women’s basketball took their second consecutive win Friday night 72-62 against Weber State University.
The Aggies (2-2, 0-0 MW) came off a win against Kansas City on Tuesday and brought the same energy to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum against the Wildcats (0-4, 0-0 BS).
“I was really proud of our first quarter. It was really fun, what we’re actually capable of doing. We might have gotten a little cocky after our first quarter coming out like that, and I would prefer we didn’t do that. It’s good for us, though,” head coach Kayla Ard said. “’I’m really proud of our kids for the first quarter and then the fourth quarter.”
The Wildcats came into the season returning all five starters and nine letterwinners from last year’s team.
USU welcomed 12 newcomers this year including nine transfers and three freshman.
Finley (0), Stubbs (4), Miller (24), Hill-Brown (23) and Mullings (25) started at tip-off for the Aggies.

WSU missed all of their shots (7) shots while the Aggies went on a 9-0 point run streak within the first five minute of the game before WSU’s Hickok put up three points.
The first quarter ended USU 26, WSU 11 with the Aggies missing just four shots taken throughout the quarter compared to WSU’s 13 missed shots.
The Wildcats came in closer during the second quarter. Utah State went in a scoring drought for 4:05 while WSU racked up 24 points.
They broke at the half USU 42, WSU 35.

The Wildcats tied the game with 4:34 left in the third after going on a 6-0 run over 0:52. Meanwhile, the Aggies went scoreless for 2:19.
WSU had a drought of their own for 2:09 before Parra broke it with a three pointer, achieving over 20 points in the game.
Going into the final quarter, the Aggies stayed in the lead 57 to 53.
Both teams went scoreless for over three minutes until a foul on WSU’s Suguturaga gave them two.
USU maintained the lead for most of the quarter but the Wildcats followed closely behind. The largest gap came in the final seconds of the game after WSU went 0-9 and Stubbs stole the ball for an open layup.
After going scoreless for 9:15, WSU couldn’t take the lead.
USU took the win 72 to 62, not giving up the lead once in the four quarters played.
