Thursday, November 16, 2023, was the first practice day at the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the first time F1 has raced in Las Vegas since 1982. This time, the track goes right down the center of The Strip so it will be next to impossible to miss the race if you are anywhere near a slot machine. Alfa Romeo knew this and trotted out a new livery just for the race and the millions of people watching.
Immediately, you can see the usually red nose and airbox areas from the 2023 C43 Alfa Romeo F1 car are black, dotted with playing cards using four-leaf clovers instead of clubs and the six of hearts. The six represents the six years that Alfa Romeo has been partnered with Sauber, and the clubs suit uses a four-leaf clover Quadrifoglio, symbolizing the highest-performance Alfa Romeo. Red and gold accents are used on the playing cards and wheels to complete the design.

The new F1 livery was unveiled in the lobby of the The Aria hotel in Las Vegas by F1 drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu shortly before the race. Fans of the team could also get a “Bottas spec” mullet shaved into thier head by celebrity shaver Matthew Collins. The concept was a play on Vegas being the Entertainment Capital of the World and was also included on the driver’s racing gear. Both Bottas and Guanyu will wear a gold Quadrifoglio logo on the chest and a gold color for the driver’s names and numbers.
The livery was designed at the Centro Stile, Alfa’s design center that opened in 2021 to fashion awesomeness into each new Alfa Romeo, like the Stradale 33. Alfa Romeo rejoined F1 in 2018 with a baby-faced Charles Leclerc alongside Marcus Ericsson driving the C37 Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 car. In 2019, Leclerc famously switched places with then Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen in the Alfa Romeo Sauber C38. The current Alfa Romeo F1 drivers are Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu and the team is currently 9th in points.
