The all-new fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson has been in India for only a year, but a minor update is already in the works. Reportedly, Hyundai is working on a facelift for the fourth-generation Tucson, which has been spied overseas, indicating a potential global launch soon. However, the fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson arrived in India long after it was available in other global markets. Hence, it is expected that the new facelifted version will arrive within a year.
The mid-lifecycle facelift appears to have received subtle updates to its exterior, with a few minor changes expected in its interior as well. Regarding the exterior updates, the new Hyundai Tucson facelift has been spotted with a redesigned front grille featuring sharper-looking inserts. Additionally, redesigned daytime running LEDs, integrated into the grille, are anticipated. Nevertheless, the all-LED headlamps and their housings remain unchanged, with a minor design tweak introduced for the central air intake on the front bumper.
Except for the redesigned 18-inch machined alloy wheels, the side profile of the Hyundai Tucson remains unchanged, continuing to feature numerous sharp creases. While the rear end of the Tucson facelift is not visible in the spy pictures, one can anticipate mild revisions to the rear bumper and new LED inserts for the tail lamps in the facelifted model. Though the interior isn’t visible in the images, it’s expected to come with several changes and added features.
Engine options
Globally, the fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson currently offers various powertrain options, including naturally aspirated petrol, turbocharged petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and even a plug-in hybrid powertrain. However, the Indian version of the Tucson facelift will persist with the current set of engines—a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated 156 bhp petrol engine with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a 2.0-litre 186 bhp diesel engine with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel engine also comes with an optional all-wheel-drive layout, which is expected to be offered in the facelifted version.
Similar to the current scenario, the Hyundai Tucson facelift will continue to compete with other premium midsize SUVs, such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and Citroen C5 Aircross.
