It exists in the same family of crime movies as David Fincher’s Se7en, using elements of horror to position its antagonist as evil itself. The Tokyo of Cure is like the nameless city in Se7en, its grimy and gritty environment hides a murderer who could strike again at any time. Gaining popularity a few years after its initial release, the film has perhaps one of the most controversial and argued endings out there — and that’s on purpose.
