Al Horford will play, and there’s a good chance they’ll swap Wednesday night.
The Boston Celtics will be without Kristaps Porzingis (left calf strain injury management) when they face the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco on Tuesday at 10 p.m. EST. The veteran big man was listed as questionable to start the day but has since been downgraded by the team.
Porzingis played in the Celtics’ first 10 games, missed a matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers in mid-November, played in five more games, missed four straight, then played in four of the last five. In total, including Tuesday, he’s seen action in 19 of 26 games this season.
He’s averaging 18.9 points and 6.8 rebounds on the year, shooting 52.4% from the field. The decision is likely a precautionary measure as the Celtics continue to prioritize Porzingis’ long-term health.

Luke Kornet is also sidelined (left adductor strain), so expect a heavy dose of Al Horford, along with some bully-ball from Jayson Tatum and perhaps some Neemias Queta, Lamar Stevens or Oshae Brissett at the 5.
Porzingis will likely return Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings, and Horford will likely sit because it’s the second night of a back-to-back.
The Celtics have won five straight, eight of nine, and 14 of 17. This will arguably be Boston’s toughest test yet, as they face the Warriors, Kings, LA Clippers, and Los Angeles Lakers on the road in a span of six days.
