Zion Williamson’s shoes have quickly established themselves as a pillar of Jordan Brand’s signature shoe business, offering excellent performance benefits in a number of unique styles and colorways. Now leading his Pelicans towards a playoff push as we approach the second half of the NBA season, the Jordan athlete debuts an eye-catching Zion 3 that speaks to the shoe’s design origins.
The abstract mud-splattered pattern on the Zion 3 upper, meant to symbolize Zion’s journey from “making it out of the mud,” was engineered using 3D imaging of Williamson’s foot. On this pair, the shoe calls in bright shades of red and blue to produce a 3D effect akin to what you might find on a pair of movie theater glasses, perfectly aligning with the design process behind the shoe.
A release date is set for February 20th in adult and grade school sizes, posing a question on whether or not this was initially intended to be an All-Star release. Current fan voting suggests Zion won’t make the cut this year, but we’ll know for sure when teams are announced January 25th on TNT.
