After the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder last night, Anthony Edwards ripped the refs who worked the game.
During his postgame interview on the Timberwolves’ TV broadcast, Edwards said, “I’m going to take the fine because the refs did not give us no calls tonight.”
Edwards, who finished with 27 points, four rebounds and four assists against the Thunder, told Tim MacMahon of ESPN that the refs were “bad” when the Timberwolves got into their locker room.
“The refs was bad tonight. Yeah, they was terrible,” Edwards said. “We was playing 8-on-5. The cat got their tongue tonight, so it’s all good. It’s not fair, but it’s all good.”
The Timberwolves shot 15 free throws, while the Thunder shot 22. OKC superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander went to the line 16 times.

“Him getting to the line, he do that in his sleep,” Edwards said. “Yeah, he’s unstoppable. Nobody can guard him. He’s good. He’s super good. But yeah, the refs was bad tonight.”
The Timberwolves improved to 33-14 after beating the Thunder. They have the best record in the West and look like legitimate title contenders.
Edwards is averaging 25.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.5 blocks on the season. He’s one of the top players in the NBA.

“I haven’t earned [referees’ respect] yet, so it’s OK,” Edwards said. “But I think tonight was bad from the refs. It was terrible. We didn’t get no calls as a team. I got fouled multiple times, and I’m walking up to the ref telling him, ‘Hey, can you watch this?’ They just shaking their head. Yeah. And then soon somebody come down from their team and get bumped, it’s a foul. So I just feel like it wasn’t a fair game tonight from the jump. And so that’s why I’m super happy we won the game.”
