New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan surge 60.5% year-on-year in 2023 to a record 198,686 units, marking a 7th consecutive year of growth and making it one of the most dynamic markets in the world. Hyundai (+60.1%) snaps the brands lead off Chevrolet (+33.6%), with its share almost unchanged at 23.5%. Kia (+76.8%) stays in third place above Chery (+173.9%) up two spots to #4. Toyota (+11.8%) struggles at #5, distancing JAC (+105.1%), Haval (+403.9%) and Changan (+2384.5%) all in surreal shape. Newcomer Jetour lands directly in 9th position with 2% share and peaked at #7 and 4.5% share in December. Exeed (+107%) closes out the Top 10 ahead of Geely (+2135%). Notice also Lada (-80%) freefalling from #5 to #16.
Over in the models ranking, the Chevrolet Cobalt (+31.3%) manages a third annual pole position in a row and holds 15.3% of the market vs. 18.7% a year ago. The Hyundai Tucson (+62.6%) stays at #2 with 7.3% share while the Kia Sportage (+216.3%) is up four spots to #3 and the Hyundai Santa Fe (+150.4%) is up five to #4. The Chevrolet Onix lands directly in 5th place with 3% share. Hyundai places an additional 3 nameplates in the Top 8: the Elantra (+20%), Sonata (+4.5%) and Bayon (+768.1%). The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro (+85.4%) breaks into the Top 10 at #9 whereas the Chevrolet Nexia (-44.6%) is down seven ranks to #10.
