There are only two more episodes of “The Grand Tour” left to enjoy before Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond hang up their keys. The penultimate episode, titled “The Grand Tour: Sand Job,” is set to premiere on February 16.
The episode will follow the trio of presenters on a trip across the Northern African nation of Mauritania. According to Amazon Studios, they will be “following in the footsteps of the legendary Paris-Dakar rally.”
As you might expect, the trio will not tackle the difficult terrain with the expertly-modified rally vehicles associated with the race. Instead, the first trailer for the episode reveals that they will be driving a trio of poorly modified grand tourers, including a Jaguar F-Type, an Aston Martin DB9, and a Maserati GranTurismo Convertible.

“Their journey begins with the world’s longest train and sees them tackle the killer Sahara and perilous river crossings whilst protecting their precious fuel bowser [tanker] from exploding,” the studio writes. “Battling scorching temperatures and unforgiving sand terrain, filming this special was a true test for both the presenters and their cars.”
The upcoming episode will hold special significance for the series, as it serves as the penultimate episode of the entire series. The final episode, reported by Variety to have recently concluded filming in Zimbabwe, will premiere later this year.
Jeremy Clarkson announced late last year that he intends to retire for producing automotive content for video. The TV personality also hosts another Amazon Original, “Clarkson’s Farm,” as well as the UK version of “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?” He also writes several columns.
His co-hosts will also continue to be featured on TV screens, as “Richard Hammond’s Workshop” is set to continue on Discovery, and the “James May: Our Man In…” series is also enjoying success, and the next episode will take place in India.
