As revealed in episode one, the Buick’s original 3.8-liter turbo six faced a terminal rod knock, prompting the decision to install a 640-horsepower supercharged LT4 crate engine. However, achieving this required a comprehensive overhaul, essentially starting from scratch. The rear-end and exhaust came out first, followed by the transmission and suspension.
However, removing the engine proved more difficult than the team originally thought. Once out though, it was time to 3D scan the engine bay so Grimm could start fabricating up some new parts, and then wheel the car outside for a thorough degreasing and engine bay repaint.
