The incident primarily involved Jimmy Butler and Naji Marshall. After officials managed to diffuse this initial confrontation, another dispute arose between Thomas Bryant and Jose Alvarado.
The situation escalated further when a spectator threw objects at the players, prompting security to eject a fan donning a Pelicans jersey accused of hurling items at Alvarado and Bryant. Additionally, a supporter in a Heat jersey was also removed from the premises.

The NBA plans to examine the events of Friday night to determine whether disciplinary actions against any players are warranted. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra remarked that the altercation stemmed from the high level of competition between the teams.
“We’ll just see what happens from the league,” Spoelstra said. “Everybody’s intentions were right at first, but you get a bunch of competitive people out there, and it kind of boiled over.”

The Heat and Pelicans are scheduled to meet again on March 22. Butler is already ready for the rematch, taking a shot at New Orleans while boosting his team.
“We’ll beat them the next time, too,” Butler said. “We’re just a better team. Our team is so ready for anything that anybody’s thrown at us,” Butler added. “We’re so together, playing some incredible basketball. I don’t think it matters who we go up against right now. It’s that time of the year.”
