Massachusetts-based MS Classic Cars has sent some special muscle cars and hot rods across the Hemmings Auctions block. But this week, they are offering a pair of vehicles that are more at home in the field than on the road.
Listed at no reserve are a pair of restored Farmall tractors. International Harvester manufactured Farmall tractors under the McCormick name and also under its own IH banner. In fact, International Harvester itself was born when McCormick, Deering and three other smaller agricultural manufacturers merged in 1902.

The red 1945 McCormick Farmall A tractor hails from McCormick’s letter series that was introduced in 1939. A and B series tractors were the smallest lines, H series indicated the mid-size of the range and M was the largest McCormick Farmall model range. International Harvester featured offset seating on the smaller ranges of models known as “Culti-Vision” which allowed the driver a better view of the crops and fields he was tending as the driver’s seat had a clear vision in front with the seat in the center and the engine offset to the left of the driver’s view.
This Farmall A features a recent restoration in the classic McCormick red color. It is powered by a 1.9-liter inline four-cylinder engine coupled to a four-speed transmission. The clutch is said to be original but working as it should. Known as a “Row Crop” tractor, this Farmall features a wide front end. The simple tractor looks especially clean in the photos and Marc Schiliro of MS Classic Cars considers the restoration to be of “show quality” and says that it “presents beautifully, but it’s not a concours restoration.”
The yellow and white 1964 International Harvester McCormick Farmall Cub tractor is also offered at no reserve and has been restored. This IH Farmall Cub features a mowing deck and is considered “a true piece of Americana” by Schiliro. Previous owners have rebuilt the engine and transmission and most recently completed a cosmetic restoration in 2023.
Research done by MS Classic Cars indicates that this Cub is one of the earliest off the line in the model’s first year of manufacture, when just 406 were made. It is also said to feature an authentic and operational 60-inch International C-3 Rotary Mower. It’s 1.0-liter L-head inline four-cylinder engine is coupled to a three-speed sliding-gear transmission. Both the engine and transmission are noted to operate correctly and run smoothly by the seller.
Tractors can make excellent companion pieces to automobile collections for people who appreciate the exposed operation and simple mechanical elements of historical tractors. These two restored examples, offered at no reserve and selling to the highest bidder, have all of their mechanical glory out in the open, exposed at every turn of the wheel.
