Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton told NBA reporters on Thursday that the plan is for him to be ready for opening night versus the Philadelphia 76ers on October 26. Middleton underwent successful surgery on his right knee shortly after the 2023 playoffs.
Middleton averaged 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists last season for the Bucks while shooting 43.6% from the field, 31.5% from beyond the arc and 90.2% from the free-throw line. He only appeared in 33 games.

Middleton agreed on a new three-year, $102 million contract with the Bucks in July. The third year of the deal is a player option.
The Bucks won the 2021 championship over the Phoenix Suns in six games. However, they lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2022 Eastern Conference Semifinals in seven games and were upset by the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games.
Milwaukee’s front office made a blockbuster trade last week, acquiring Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers. The Bucks now have arguably the best Big 3 in the NBA in Lillard, Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Middleton has career averages of 17.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 684 games with the Detroit Pistons and Bucks. The three-time All-Star has played in 657 games with Milwaukee. He’s averaging 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Bucks.

The Bucks hired Adrian Griffin, who played in 477 NBA games, as their new head coach after firing Mike Budenholzer. Middleton and Antetokounmpo met with Griffin during the interview process. Griffin is expected to start Lillard, Pat Connaughton, Middleton, Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez this season.
