The poor critical reception of The Exorcist: Believer proves that The Exorcist franchise’s short-lived TV show shouldn’t have been replaced by a new movie trilogy. When director David Gordon Green promised to revive the Halloween franchise back in 2018, genre fans were understandably skeptical. However, despite the odds, the indie filmmaker managed to make Halloween 2018 an inventive, scary breath of fresh air that won over critics and viewers alike. Thus, when Green was announced as the creative force behind a new Exorcist trilogy, hopes were high. Unfortunately, The Exorcist’s TV show had already been canceled.
