One NBA writer is proposing that the Chicago Bulls acquire Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers in a blockbuster deal. Fran Leiva of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Bulls, Clippers and Atlanta Hawks:
Atlanta Hawks receive: DeMar DeRozan, Alex Caruso, Bones Hyland, 2028 First-Round Pick via Clippers, 2030 First-Round Pick via Clippers
Chicago Bulls receive: Paul George, 2029 First-Round Pick via Hawks, 2028 Second-Round Pick via Hawks
Los Angeles Clippers receive: Trae Young, 2029 First-Round Pick via Bulls
“With his injury issues and the inability to compete for a championship in Los Angeles, the Clippers might consider parting ways with George to reconfigure their roster,” Leiva wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “In this scenario, joining Chicago would give George the opportunity to be the unquestioned leader of the franchise, with even greater stature than DeRozan, as George not only excels offensively but is also a much more valuable asset on the defensive end compared to the former Spurs player.

“Chicago could assemble a starting lineup featuring Ayo Dosunmu or Coby White until Ball returns, with Zach LaVine at shooting guard and Paul George at small forward. In the remainder of the lineup, they could pair Patrick Williams with Nikola Vucevic, and thanks to Vucevic’s ability to stretch the floor, they could even deploy him alongside Andre Drummond on the court simultaneously.”
George appeared in 56 games for the Clippers last season. The eight-time NBA All-Star averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists. George suffered a knee injury near the end of the regular season and didn’t play in the Clippers’ first-round postseason series versus the Phoenix Suns.

George will make $45.6 million this season and has a player option worth $48.8 million for the 2024-25 season. The Clippers and George have talked about an extension, so it’s doubtful George will get traded.
