Google just launched a slew of tools to help those shopping for an electric vehicle make a very informed decision. The features provide a number of important data points including range, tax rebates, and more. It’s just one section of a group of new tools Google launched in hopes of allowing more people to take more control of their climate change decisions.
As the transition to electric vehicles continues, there are a number of major issues facing consumers. One of them is a lack of information about the vehicles in question. These new tools aim to simplify the information expedition.
They don’t have a specific name but they’ll pop up in search based on user input. Searching for “best electric cars” for example, will help buyers compare prices, battery range, and what models are available. Google will help buyers compare both federal and state tax incentives as well. That single feature should take some of the confusion out of the equation.

In addition, buyers can check out how much it’ll cost to charge an electric vehicle and then compare that to what it would cost to fuel up a combustion-powered car. Those same features are coming to countries abroad in the near future too. Google also has a new tool to help buyers check out range estimates based on their specific local driving route.
The results will show how much battery will remain at the end of the journey and how many stops, if any, will be required to reach the destination. It’ll even give searchers an idea of how quickly the car can recharge should that be a factor in the trip.
These tools are just a few in a bevy of new ones surrounding climate change. Others include new suggestions about navigation that will include more public transportation options or walking instructions if times are comparable and practical. Another new tool allows builders to see how the incorporation of solar energy panels might affect a specific urban area. Many of these tools are live now and others will come online in the coming weeks.
