Mahindra Automotive, the country’s largest SUV manufacturer, is gearing up to launch three new SUVs in India. The company has been testing these models for quite some time now and has generated a significant buzz among the buyers in the market. If you are one of those who want to know all the details about these upcoming SUVs from Mahindra, then you have come to the right place.
Mahindra Thar 5-Door
The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-Door is one of the most hotly anticipated vehicles in the country. This model has been spotted testing on numerous occasions across India, and most recently, it was spotted testing in the North Indian region. The newest test mule, like the other mules, was seen fully camouflaged. The model will come with two additional doors in the middle and an increased wheelbase.

On the front, the Thar 5-Door will come equipped with a newer split-style 7-slat grille and LED headlights. It will also be getting a new set of alloy wheels. Moving on to the inside, it will retain the same general layout of the dashboard; however, it will get a few more modern features. The SUV will come equipped with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, rear AC vents, a push start-stop button, and automatic climate control. It could also come equipped with a multi-functional steering wheel borrowed from the XUV700.
As for the powertrain side of things, it will most likely come with the same engine options as its three-door counterpart. Presently, the Thar 3-Door is available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engine options in the four-wheel-drive variants. It is expected that the 5-Door Thar will retain both of these engine options in a higher state of tune, similar to those of the Scorpio-N. According to reports, the new 5-Door Thar will be launched around the first quarter of 2024. Exact launch dates have not been revealed at the moment.
Mahindra XUV300 Facelift
Next up on this list is the Mahindra XUV300 Facelift. Recently, almost all of the SUVs in the sub-compact SUV segment have been refreshed, with the Tata Nexon Facelift being the newest. Taking note of this, it has been reported that Mahindra is also working on a facelift of its popular sub-compact SUV, XUV300. Just a few weeks ago, a test mule of this fully redesigned model was spotted testing on Indian roads.
The new test mule revealed that the front of the upcoming XUV300 Facelift will be heavily inspired by the Mahindra BE.05 EV SUV. It will also receive a set of newly designed LED taillights. Additionally, it will come equipped with a full-length connected taillight. The car will also be getting a set of new front and rear bumpers. Meanwhile, the side profile will remain the same.
The recent spotting of the test mule also revealed that the interior of this upcoming model will be fully redesigned. From the pictures, it was noted that it will come equipped with all-new air conditioning vents with chrome surrounds and a larger touchscreen infotainment display. Additionally, it has also been reported that the company could also be offering the new XUV300 with a panoramic sunroof, which will be a segment-first feature.
Like other models, most likely the powertrains will remain the same as the outgoing model. Currently, the company offers the XUV300 with three engine options. The first is a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 108.62 BHP and 200 Nm of torque. Next up is a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that produces 115.05 BHP and 300 Nm of torque. Lastly, there is a more performance-oriented 1.2-liter turbo-petrol TurboSport variant that produces 129 BHP and 230 Nm of torque. This model will also be most likely launched in the first quarter of 2024.
Mahindra XUV.e8
Third on the list of highly anticipated SUVs from Mahindra is the new all-electric iteration of the XUV700 – the XUV.e8. This new top-of-the-line electric SUV from Mahindra will be based on the XUV700’s platform; however, it will get its own unique design elements on the front and the rear. The model will become the flagship SUV of the Mahindra range of electric cars in India.
On the front, the XUV.e8 will feature a much more futuristic-looking design with new LED headlights and LED DRLs. It will most likely also get a connecting light in the middle as well. On the side profile, it will get a set of brand new 18-inch alloy wheels. The upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8 will also get copper highlights all around its exterior to distinguish it from its ICE-powered counterpart.
In terms of the interior, the XUV.e8 will be getting a significantly redesigned interior. It will include a three-screen layout on the dashboard, a new two-spoke steering wheel with a gloss black finish. Other changes on the interior include a gloss black finish for the lower center console, with touch-sensitive buttons for climate control and other functions.
As for the drivetrain side of things, the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8 is confirmed to get an 80 kWh battery pack and all-wheel drive configuration with a dual-motor setup. According to reports, this powertrain will be able to generate a maximum of 230 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The XUV.e8 will be the first all-electric vehicle from the XUV.e platform, which is expected to go on sale by late 2024, and will compete with the Tata Harrier.EV.
