Ever since her breakthrough performance in the 2013 indie drama Short Term 12, actress Brie Larson has given complex women a voice. Fresh off her Oscar win, Larson faced down fictional gaslighting and real-life internet trolls with Captain Marvel, the MCU's first female-led venture. She'll return to the role of Carol Danvers in November's The Marvels, a movie led by a trio of female characters, but before then, Larson's once again challenging misogynistic expectations with the AppleTV+ drama Lessons in Chemistry. Elizabeth Zott, a scientist and unrepentant career woman, uses her platform as a cooking show host to advocate against systematic oppression.
