Stede and Blackbeard’s romantic relationship in Our Flag Means Death season 2 gets broken down by creator David Jenkins. Initially premiering in March 2022, the period romantic comedy set in the early 18th century chronicles the various escapades of gentleman pirate Stede Bonnet who has a midlife crisis and decides to swap his seemingly-charmed life for that of a fierce buccaneer. His decision to become a pirate does not go as smoothly as he envisaged as he later crosses paths with the infamous captain Blackbeard. Upon the release of season 1, the show received praises from critics and audiences, especially for its LGTBQ representation.
