The Fear Street trilogy was an instant classic horror movie franchise from Netflix, but the 2021 series has, inexplicably, still not received any follow-ups. Although 2020s horror movies have been doing big business at the box office, there are precious few fresh slasher franchises debuting this decade. The Conjuring cinematic universe is continually growing and earning big box office returns, but these are supernatural horror movies rather than slashers. Although recent reboots proved that the Halloween series and Scream movies can still command a theatrical audience, the biggest new slashers are indie darlings like the Terrifier franchise.
